-
- _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f provide five predefined run-levels generally suitable for
- workstation. Each run-level correspond to a combination of the
- following features:
-
- ╖ Graphic mode, X-terminal or text mode.
-
- ╖ Network or stand-alone mode.
-
- ╖ One run-level as defined in /etc/inittab.
-
- Some _L_i_n_u_x systems need more control. Some servers never run X for
- example, but may support various configuration through /etc/inittab.
- It is possible to reprogram the five definition provide by _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f.
- Each of the three topics above may be controlled separately for each
- of the five run-levels. And you are allowed to give a different name.

-
- It is expected to have a better integration of the capability of
- /etc/inittab with _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f. _L_i_n_u_x_c_o_n_f run-levels will be defined not
- in term of the basic /etc/inittab run-level, but instead services per
- services.
